These MatchBook slogans reflect what I have been reading, watching and thinking.
I feel so earnest at times.
In this batch “Straws Suck” is my favourite. Is it true that people are impacted by something clever and catchy? Or maybe it takes away from the imperative of seeing this focus on climate as a crisis. Clever trumps earnest for me every time. This message about straws has led me to ask for water differently when I am in a restaurant – “Water, please, no straw no ice.”
In any case (clever, earnest, impactful, heart driven, facts only) if a slogan provides an opening for a conversation that is my endgame especially if that conversation leads to a shift in perspective or taking some action.
All of these MatchBook Art instigators have gone on to do their work keeping Climate Crisis top of mind – if even for a brief while. Every drop adds to eventually turning the tide.
